There is a variety of ways you can edit text in Infogram. Choose the one that suits your current project:
Editing text in template projects
Use the settings panel on the right to edit the text element size, rotation, transparency, font type, color, style, alignment, line height, and letter spacing. You can also add numbered lists or bullet points, as well as hyperlink text.
To resize and rotate text objects:
❶ Click on a text object to select it.
❷ To resize, you can either drag and drop the corners of the text object in the editor or change the number of pixels for the text object width and height in the Settings tab.
❸ Rotate the object by entering a degree of rotation from 1° to 360° in the Settings panel if you want to be precise. You can also adjust rotation with your keyboard controls directly in the editor. To do so, click the circle rotation handler at the top and rotate to the right or left.
Adjust text transparency by moving the slider in the Settings panel, or by inserting a percentage of transparency from 1 to 100.
The lower the number, the less transparent the text will be. The higher the percentage, the more transparent the text will be.
Change font and font size
❶ Click to select the text you wish to edit.
❷ Click on the Font drop-down menu to select one of the theme fonts, or choose another font.
❸ Click on the Font size drop-down menu to select the size in pixels, the smallest being 9px, and the largest — 150px. Changes will automatically apply to the selected text.
Change font color
❶ Click to select the text you want to edit.
❷ Click the colored square to choose one from a set of theme colors or insert a hexadecimal code in the custom color field. You can also use the color chooser.
❶ Select the text field you wish to make bold, underline or italicize and use the settings panel to apply the formatting.
❷ Select the text field and use the horizontal alignment options: left, centered, right, or justify to align text.
❸ Use one of the Vertical alignment options to adjust the placement of text within a text object: top, center, or bottom.
Line height and letter spacing
Line height and letter spacing are easy ways to change your text design and, most importantly, improve text readability and emphasis.
❶ Click to select a text object.
❷ Use the line height and letter spacing sliders in the Settings panel to adjust text spacing.
Ordered and unordered bullet lists
Bullet points are a great way to draw the reader's attention to important facts and information. You can use Ordered bullet points, which are numbered, or you can use Unordered bullet points, which use the bullet ( • ) symbol.
❶ Click to select the text you wish to order.
❷ Choose one of the List types in the settings panel to apply bullet points.
❸ To remove a bullet simply click Enter.
Make text subscript or superscript
❶ Select the text you want to make into a subscript or superscript.
❷ In the Text transform section in the right side settings panel choose Superscript or Subscript.
These are the following hyperlinks you can use:
- a URL
- a web-based file
- an email address (mailto)
To add a hyperlink:
❶ Click to select the text you wish to hyperlink.
❷ Click the Add link option in the settings panel and enter a URL link in the pop-up box. Be sure to enter http:// for the hyperlink to work. To set up an email link, replace "http://" with "mailto:". For example: mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org.
Editing text in responsive web and mobile layouts
Responsive web and mobile layouts comprise the last choice at the top of your library. They contain a simplified rich text editor, which is different from what you'll find in template projects. If you have created a template project, please switch to the instructions above.
The rich text editor in chart and map projects will allow you:
❶ To make bold, underline or italicize.
❷ Align left, centered, and right.
❸ To format text as ordered or unordered bullet lists.
❹ To turn text and numbers in superscripts or subscripts.
❺ To choose the font type, font size, and color, as well as add a hyperlink.
